WHEELS OF SOUL: TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND, SHARON JONES & THE DAP-KINGS

KOKA BOOTH AMPHITHEATRE, CARY

SATURDAY, JULY 18

Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks couldn't have been a better match if eHarmony linked them. Since ditching solo careers five years ago, the married musicians have released two albums of ever-sharpening blues-rock, buoyed by deep soul schooling. Trucks is an extraordinary guitarist, his licks having dropped jaws since he was a tween. He's got great interplay with Tedeschi, no six-string slouch herself. But his presence has allowed her to emphasize her vocals, now more impassioned than they've ever been. Having live wires like Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings open can't hurt. The soul-shouter's kinetic stage energy is like Simon Says for making large crowds move. Since her cancer battle, Jones has found even deeper resonance musically. Don't skip opener Doyle Bramhall II, son of Stevie Ray Vaughan's longtime drummer and a fine Texas bluesman in his own right. 6:30 p.m., $44.50–$75, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary, 919-462-2025, www.boothamphitheatre.com.Chris Parker
