Swearin', Potty Mouth, Silent Lunch

When: Wed., June 11, 9 p.m. 2014

Compared to all the battling brothers that have populated the history of rock 'n' roll, sisters in bands have seemed far more stable if, to date, more rare. No hilariously petty Noel-and-Liam spat doomed the previous bands—The Ackleys, Bad Banana, P.S. Eliot—of Alabama-born identical twins Allison and Katie Crutchfield. It was just regular old artistic maturity. Katie works semi-solo now as the brooding and reflective Waxahatchee, while Allison rips away in her hooky alt-rock group Swearin'. She shares the mic with guitarist Kyle Gilbride, both of them intoning sweet disappointments between eruptions of chunky '90s guitar. Potty Mouth comes from Northampton, Mass.' robust DIY community; they remain in the blush of bratty pop-punk youth. With Silent Lunch. —Jeff Klingman
