Suspiria

comment
Set in a German dance academy, Dario Argento's 1977 classic, Suspiria, is a must-see for fans of European horror. With inventive, highly stylized death scenes, vivid cinematography and an artistic use of gore (if you've seen the film, you'll understand), Argento established himself as respected auteur in the modern horror genre. Also on the Carolina Theatre's RetroFantasma double bill is Argento's 1959 directorial debut, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, the director's murder-mystery homage to Hitchcock and American film noir. See "Special Showings" for details.
