CHAPEL HILL & RALEIGH

OPERA! OPERA!

VARIOUS LOCATIONS--Three short weeks after Opera Company of North Carolina served up a bloody good--and totally professional--production of Salome, the other regional opera companies take their chances in the spotlight this weekend. While Capital Opera Raleigh stages Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci and Mozart's The Impresario with a 17-piece orchestra at Meredith College in Jones Auditorium, Long Leaf Opera produces the Broadway musical Kismet at East Chapel Hill High School. Both shows run Friday and Saturday nights with Sunday matinees. Ticket prices? About the same as well: $16 for Kismet, $15 for Pagliacci/Impresario. Call Long Leaf at 338-2642, Capital Opera at 760-2840 for details. --Byron Woods

RALEIGH

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY

THE BREWERY--L.E.G.A.C.Y. keeps pushing his Sunday night series in Raleigh, this time inviting one of Raleigh's hottest young crews, Inflowential, to take the stage with him and his fellow Justus League emcee, O-Dash. Inflow combines live instrumentation and beatboxing, exuding optimism in involved rhyme about overcoming plebian stones in one's pathway. L.E.G. says he's busy working on a screenplay and a DVD and that fans should expect a new mixtape by April, so he should be packing some new rhymes for this irregular throwdown. --Grayson Currin
