Gods of Autumn
Kennedy Theatre, Progress Energy Center—Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy wraps up its season with a world premiere from Tony-winning writer Jack Murphy, who did some of the lyrics and songs for the Broadway shows The Civil War and Swing. Gods of Autumn tells the story of three people from very different backgrounds who are thrown together when all are forced to face their mortality. According to advance notes, it's not so much about how people die as how they live—and plunging into the fear of the unknown that comes at the end of a life. The production stars Tony winner Jarrod Emick and Jessica Phillips, along with North Carolinians Dorothy Brown, Gilly Conklin, Holden Hansen, K Sridhar and Hilary Russo. General Admission tickets are $27.50. For more information, visit summernightsatthekennedy.org. —Zack Smith
