Maestros in Concert
Page Auditorium, Duke Campus—Tabla, a classical Indian drum made of hardwood and hide, is supposed to be one of the music world's most difficult instruments to master. Zakir Hussain, a Grammy award winner who has collaborated with many of Western pop's crossovers into Eastern music, is one of the best tabla players there is. He joins santur player Pandit Shivkumar Sharma for a program of North Indian classical music on the final concert of the 2008-09 Duke Artists Series. The 8 p.m. concert is sold out, so show up early with cash. Visit dukeperformances.duke.edu/programs/current. —Margaret Hair
