The original Sam Peckinpah film that starred Dustin Hoffman and Susan George was a landmark of raw violence and sexuality, and it was awarded an X rating—in the brief window before the rating became synonymous with porn. It's not clear there's any artistic justification for a remake, but the plot—a meek husband and his knockout wife come under assault in their own home—clearly strikes Hollywood as a moneymaker. The original was set in England. This time out, stars James Marsden and Kate Bosworth are in the cretinous South.
