Sons of Bill CD release

When: Wed., March 28, 9 p.m. 2012

Charlottesville, Va., quintet Sons of Bill won't win any awards for originality; their whiskey-soaked, hungover country-rock shuffles to a familiar ne'er-do-well gait in Outlaw Southern leather. But you'll spend a lifetime waiting for something new in this world, and these SOBs aren't bad writers. "The South ain't going to rise again, but we're holding out for Jesus," frontman James Wilson sings on "Joey's Arm" from 2009's One Town Away. James' brothers Sam (guitar) and Abe (keyboards) offer some fine backing harmonies. Their forthcoming, Kickstarter-funded disc Sirens showcases a more upbeat, pop-rock approach tinged with Springsteen's spirit. Carl Anderson opens. —Chris Parker

Price: $8-10
