So & So Series

When: Sat., May 4, 8 p.m. 2013

"Writing poetry itself is a political act ... the fact of caring about language enough not to abuse it is political." That's Brian Henry in a 2003 interview. Henry, who teaches creative writing and literature at the University of Richmond, is one of the most versatile and prolific writers around, penning poetry, criticism, translations and hybrid-genre work. He's joined at this reading by two equals in that respect. Tara Rebele also used to teach at Richmond until she moved to New England College's faculty. She melds poems, video, stills and sound as a new media artist. Sean Patrick Hill of Louisville, Ky., has produced volumes of poems as well as hiking guides to places such as Kentucky's Red River Gorge. Hill is finishing a low-residency MFA in poetry at Warren Wilson College near Asheville. —Chris Vitiello
