Snakehole, Rat Bastard, Silvia Kastel, Secret Boyfriend, Gel Set, Matchess

When: Wed., Dec. 17, 10 p.m. 2014

The only thing stranger than the six bands on this bill is the wonderful, outlandish decision to put them in the space at the same time. There are the woozy and fragmented folk songs of Secret Boyfriend, the static-and-samples playfulness of Gel Set and the drugged-and-dragging slow-motion tunes of Matchess. Those three congeal, but don’t expect as much at the top of the bill: Rat Bastard is a harsh noise icon, while Snakehole grinds from glacial doom to spastic punk as if on a crash course to break rules. Silvia Kastel, meanwhile, takes simple songs, scatters them across beds of accidental rhythms and cycles them through electronics that suggest a set of loose cords.
