Shredded Nerve, Scant, Clavicula Salomonis, Dead Weight, Electric Cactus, Yohimbe

When: Tue., Nov. 18, 9 p.m. 2014

A merciless night of harsh noise from traveling acts and locals alike, this six-band bill swings from total onslaught to destruction-by-premonition. Dead Weight arrives with punishing bursts, panicked screams coming through stacks of static, while Clavicula Salomonis turns up slowly, piling tons of hiss and samples into carefully controlled crescendos. From Richmond, Scant holds the listener hostage with a steady storm of clipped signals and droning tones. Best of all, though, might be Shredded Nerve, who takes a composer’s approach to deploying an electrostatic arsenal. Nothing arrives too quickly or too obviously; you wait for the catastrophe, always seeming to lurk just around the corner. —Grayson Haver Currin
