Shaquille O'Neal's All-Star Comedy Jam

When: Sat., June 30, 8 p.m. 2012

As the Shaquille O'Neal-sponsored All-Star Comedy Jam finally hits Raleigh, we know there will be an array of comics on the bill who will, for lack of a better phrase, act a damn fool. But we also know that out of all of them, Tony Roberts will take up a lot of stage space while doing it. As black comics go, the Detroit native is by far the most animated. A veteran of HBO's Def Comedy Jam and BET's ComicView, Roberts literally can't stay in one place when he's performing. It's like he's in attack mode, assaulting the audience with one-liners and physical gags. He may even be the first comic who does standup to work off some pounds. His 2010 DVD Tony Roberts: Wired shows him literally sweating through his clothing! See if he doesn't do the same thing in person. —Craig D. Lindsey
