Scott Miller with Rayna Gellert

When: Tue., May 1, 8 p.m. 2012

After getting his start in the '90s with Knoxville, Tenn., roots-rockers the V-Roys, Scott Miller has recorded five studio albums that blend his chunky electric impulses and country-folk influence. Of late, he's been touring with Rayna Gellert, a fine fiddler and solo artist formerly of the band Uncle Earl. She brings an old-timey resonance to his playing, abetting new songs and updating some of Miller's back catalog. Both are working on solo albums; Miller's, due out later this year, includes "Lo Siento, Spanishburg, WVA," a sweet, loping melody featuring a variety of characters hosed by life, including West Virginians gentrified from their hometown. —Chris Parker
