THE POUR HOUSE—In 2006, the International Bluegrass Music Association celebrated Asheville's Steep Canyon Rangers as their Emerging Artist of the Year, giving an approving nod to the band's dexterous creations and country grit. One year later, the Rangers have hit their stride, recording a new album of gospel, honky-tonk and blues-inspired tunes under the direction of bluegrass legend Ronnie Bowman. The album won't drop until mid-August, but if you're lucky you might catch a preview of Lovin' Pretty Women at tonight's show. Chapel Hill's bluegrass sweethearts, The Sweet By & By, open at 9 p.m. for $8 in advance and $10 at the door. —Kathy Justice

FAYETTEVILLE STREET—What better way to celebrate Raleigh's increasingly sleek downtown than with the brilliant Eddie Money, whose most famous song describes a lover as "A guardian angel to keep me warm when the cold winds blow"? Two tickets to paradise, baby. With Airiel Down, Bio Ritmo, Kickin' Grass, Dillon Fence and more. —Grayson Currin

JORDAN LAKE—Fun fact: You could fit 1,300 Earths into Jupiter, and Jupiter is so colossal that you could fit all the other planets inside it! Experienced observers from Morehead Planetarium will be at Jordan Lake's Ebenezer Church Recreation Area tonight from 9-11 p.m. to answer questions about astronomy and help you view Saturn, Venus, Jupiter and the moon through a telescope. The event is free. For more info, visit or call 962-1236. —Megan Stein
