RALEIGH RINGERS HOLIDAY CONCERT
PROGRESS ENERGY CENTER—There's something magical in the tones of chiming bells ringing out carols for the holiday season. And each year, the Triangle's handbell choir, the Raleigh Ringers, spread cheer with their annual winter concert. This year's performance promises guest Dean Shostak, who adds the gentle, high-pitched whir of his glass harmonica to the bells of Christmas time. Catch the matinee at 3 p.m. or the evening show at 8 p.m. for $13-$15. —Kathy Justice

LESLIE JAMES PICKERING
INTERNATIONALIST BOOKS—Remember when being a terrorist was cool? Actually, we don't, but anyway, radical activist Samuel Melville bombed eight New York City buildings in opposition to the Vietnam War before he was killed during the Attica prison riots. Tonight, Internationalist Books will host Leslie James Pickering's book release about the short-lived revolutionary. Pickering will read and discuss his new work Mad Bomber Melville at 6 p.m. Call 942-1740 or visit www.internationalistbooks.org for more information. —Ashley Roberts
