Bikes for the World
Headquarters Park—Is that old bike taking up much-needed space in your garage? Has it been years since you've ridden it? Don't junk it, recycle it. Today, the Durham chapter of the nonprofit group Bikes for the World will collect "unwanted, gently used" bikes to donate to communities in the developing world. Since 2005, Bikes for the World has donated more than 28,000 bikes to countries in Latin America and Africa, rejuvenating the communities there by improving health services and transportation and generating jobs. Bikes for the World suggests that bike donators also donate the $10 needed to ship the bikes and keep the program going. Bikes will be collected today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Headquarters Park (2224 E. Hwy 54, Durham). Check out the Web site at or call 688-9347. —Megan Stein

Chapel Hill
Blag'ard, Hate Prose
Jack Sprat—They aren't as canonical as Superchunk or Archers of Loaf, but the turbocharged pop-punk band Capsize 7 produced some of the best music of Chapel Hill's '90s indie-rock boomlet. Former singer/guitarist Joe Taylor teams up with drummer Adam Brinson in Blag'ard, whose spring-wound, serpentine licks pick up where Capsize left off. Show starts at 11 p.m. —Brian Howe
