The museum will resume its "Car Crazy" film series with this sweet, sophisticated rom-com directed by Billy Wilder. This 1954 black-and-white number stars Audrey Hepburn as a chauffeur's daughter who goes from ugly duckling to knockout swan after coming back home from Paris. She catches the eyes and affections of a pair of night-and-day brothers (Humphrey Bogart and William Holden). While folks may be more aware of the 1995 remake with Harrison Ford, Greg Kinnear and Julia Ormond, this original remains superior simply by being so damn charming—surprisingly so considering all the rumored backstage drama. Nevertheless, the movie reminds you why Hepburn was hailed as such a darling, especially as she rocks dresses that helped make a legend of costume designer Edith Head. (It was rumored that Hubert de Givenchy was responsible for most of Hepburn's outfits, but the ol' girl accepted the Oscar anyway.) This series is curated by INDY contributor Laura Boyes. —Craig D.
