Run the Jewels with EL-P, Killer Mike, Toon & the Real Laww

When: Tue., Dec. 31, 9 p.m. 2013

There's a fine chance that rap besties Killer Mike and El-P—the odd couple that crafted this year's critically acclaimed collaborative debut, Run the Jewels—would rather be in a house in the woods tripping on Oreo cookie shrooms, recording music and arguing about turkey burgers than sweating on a stage when the acorn drops on New Year's Eve. But they seem to love the area, anyway. It's only been four months since they last performed in the Triangle, going hard at the Cradle. And Killer Mike opened for Big Boi in Raleigh in September. This time, the two come bearing seasonal gifts—three bonus songs from the European rerelease of Run the Jewels, and the promise of a follow-up in 2014. Durham's Toon and The Real Laww open.
