Ruby Red | Stage | Indy Week

Ruby Red

When: Aug. 5-7 2010

In the South, family and home take prime importance, so it's no wonder there are myriad writings devoted to the idea. Local playwright Phil Lowden's Ruby Red centers on Jack and Anne Wells, a married couple whose neighbor Lloyd Dobbs dies. Dobbs leaves behind adult children and a formidable estate, leading Jack and Anne to question what they know about home and family. Jaret Preston directs the play's premiere by Cary Players and Cary Playwrights' Forum. Performances run through Aug. 7 and take place in two different venues: The first night's performance is in the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, and the last two nights are in the Herb Young Community Center. There's a suggested donation of $5. Request a reservation at —Sarah Ewald
