ROCK N ROLL PARTYFEST

SLIM'S, RALEIGH | SATURDAY, JUNE 20–SUNDAY, JUNE 21

If this weekend's inaugural Rock N Roll Partyfest in Raleigh feels like a reprise of April's Blackbeard's Lost Weekender in Chapel Hill, consider it a happy symptom of a close-knit garage scene. Despite plenty of shared acts, though, Partyfest isn't some rehash. Its wide-ranging bill squeezes two stages into one small bar, allowing scarce chance for staleness. Go slow and heavy with SOON, or tense and brutal with Bandages. Counter Winston Facials' brash noise-rock with Thick Modine's grooving pop. Scratch a garage-rock itch with the equally fiery Flesh Wounds and Paint Fumes, or psych out with Drag Sounds and Black Zinfandel. No Love, Natural Causes and Pie Face Girls bring sneering punk, while Daddy Issues merge surf-guitar melodies with carefree pop. Indeed, as the mini-fest's banner suggests, it's all just rock 'n' roll, y'all. 5 p.m., $12–$20, 227 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, 919-833-6657, www.slimsraleigh.com. —Bryan C. Reed
