Rock & Shop Market

When: Sat., Dec. 4, 12-6 p.m. 2010

If you haven't noticed yet, Durham's revitalized Central Park District ain't what it used to be. With the newly opened midsized music room Motorco situated just across Rigsbee Avenue from Fullsteam Brewery, the 11th run of the Rock & Shop Market will keep the block buzzing for six hours this Saturday. After all, how many other places can you order from a food truck and walk just a few steps to grab an innovative local pint to wash it down, all while taking in a fashion show or listening to live music? Oh yeah, and there's the market itself: Consider it the anti-Black Friday, with more than 50 local designers selling jewelry, apparel, art, home goods, greeting cards and more unique gifts. Glacial Greensboro folk trio The Ox Magnolia and easygoing Wilmington roots unit Onward, Soldiers provide the tunes, while Melissa York spins records. Pay $4 in advance or $5 when doors open at noon; the market runs until 6 p.m. —Spencer Griffith

Price: $4-$5
