Rob Delaney

When: Sat., Aug. 10, 7 & 10 p.m. 2013

Getting famous from being on Twitter is a feat that's only been pulled off by a witty few. Canadian soccer mom Kelly Oxford has become the social media site's Erma Bombeck, amassing thousands of followers with her daily, acid-tongued bon mots, which have landed her a book deal. Another online quipper who's going down that same route is Los Angeles comedian and writer Rob Delaney, who, despite his clean-cut look, often dispenses the sort of absurd, randomly depraved posts that people love to retweet. (Recent example: "My favorite part about mowing the lawn is cleaning the Smurf meat off the lawnmower blades.") In November he, too, has a book coming out. It's called—we kid you not—Rob Delaney: Mother. Wife. Sister. Human. Warrior. Falcon. Yardstick. Turban. Cabbage. Until then, he's continuing his stand-up thing, going from town to town doing jokes that sound like him reciting the weird stuff he says on Twitter. —Craig D. Lindsey
