A couple of VHS horror mainstays return to the big screen at this Retrofantasma. First up is Pumpkinhead, SFX master Stan Winston's 1987 directorial debut. It's the tale of a simple farmer (Lance Henriksen) who uses a witch to summon a creature to take out the teens who accidentally killed his son; naturally, things go very, very wrong. It's paired with The People Under the Stairs, Wes Craven's tale of a young boy recruited to help burglarize a couple of slumlords who are keeping a very nasty secret in the walls. One of Craven's lesser-known works, it has a particular inventiveness that makes it worth a second look. Both films were regulars at video stores—remember them?—so here's a chance to see your nightmares in full-size form. —Zack Smith
