Resurrection Dance Theater of Haiti

When: Sept. 16-19 and Sept. 29-Oct. 3 2010

Reynolds Industries Theater, Duke Campus—Composed of orphans, former street children and former child slaves, Haiti's Resurrection Dance Theatre has earned international acclaim for its use of drumming and dance to tell their story. This tour, visiting the Triangle Sept. 16–19 and Sept. 29–Oct. 3, is to raise funds for the St. Joseph Family in Haiti, which helped rescue these children and many others, and which saw two of its three homes destroyed in the earthquake nine months ago. The troupe will perform in Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Chapel Hill and Durham, including today's 4 p.m. show at Duke University. Tickets for today's event are $5–$10; visit divinity.duke.edu/calendar/dance-theatre-haiti. For a full schedule of performances, including information about the Sept. 18 gala benefit in Raleigh featuring food prepared by David Mao, chef and owner of David's Dumpling and Noodle Bar, visit www.heartswithhaiti.org/pdf/Triangle.pdf. —Zack Smith
