Gus Van Sant's latest is a poignant, corny and touching teen romance that follows the three-month relationship of Enoch (Henry Hopper) and Annabel (Mia Wasikowska). Enoch is a serial funeral crasher who is surprised to be accepted by Annabel. Restless
is muted and chilly with Northwest drizzle, but the way Van Sant finds happy, intimate moments between his two stiff makes for another worthy entry in his Portland-based films about young people. Restless
could use more irreverence, and the way the film deals with death is muddled, but its refreshing and unique when it works.
