Reflection Eternal, Actual Proof, DJ BRORABB

When: Sat., June 12, 9 p.m. 2010

Perhaps in some cosmic, cyclical way, the passing of Guru—the late emcee who was half of the legendary rapper-producer duo Gangstarr—helped usher in the sweet return of another regaled rapper-producer duo, Reflection Eternal. Until this year, they hadn't released a full-length project together since the beginning of the millennium. Since then, rapper Talib Kweli has released four solo albums and founded Blacksmith Records, where he continues to operate as head "MCEO," while producer Hi-Tek has been stacking production credits with three installments of his Hi-Teknology LPs and a catalogue of appearances from Little Brother to Snoop Dogg. The duo's most recent LP, Revolutions Per Minute, reintroduces us to the guys responsible for making 2000's black soul LP Train of Thought. It's another go-round of Kweli's rapademics and legerdemain over Tekzilla's beats. The Triangle's own duo Actual Proof opens. —Eric Tullis

Price: $20–$25
