Red Stick Ramblers

When: Sat., April 10, 8 p.m. 2010

Red Stick Ramblers show is a culture tour, with music as the guide. You'll hear string band tunes, swinging Cajun dance numbers and honky-tonk-ready country songs. You'll hear upright bass and twin fiddles. You'll hear English and French and something in between. In other words, you'll hear rural Louisiana. As guitarist Chas Justus (who started the band with fiddler Linzay Young and drummer Glenn Fields while the three were students at LSU) says of the quintet's new My Suitcase is Always Packed:"There's a cultural identity here, which is something that is getting harder and harder to find. We try to represent that identity, that authenticity." Tickets are $25 for the 8 p.m. show. See www.hollyspringsnc.us. —Rick Cornell
