Red Collar, River City Ransom, Last Year's Men, Catie Yerkes

When: Fri., April 2, 10 p.m. 2010

Red Collar's most recent batch of acerbic anthems inspire as much fist pumping as everbut don't expect to shout along quite yet. River City Ransom may be best known for its show-stopping tribute to Meat Loaf at this year's Raleigh Undercover, but the five-piece outfit's frenetic originals would be a breath of fresh air for modern-rock radio. Half Ramones and half Replacements, Churchkey signees Last Year's Men might be your favorite new Triangle rock 'n' roll band. The Chapel Hill trio bashes out garage rock as frontman Ben Carr howls with abandon over the sudsy ballads. Raleigh songwriter Catie Yerkes opens, approximating anti-folk with simple chords and arresting vocals that twist Aimee Argote into Kimya Dawson. Pay a $7 cover at 10 p.m. — Spencer Griffith

Price: $7
