Reception and Curators' Conversation

When: Thu., Sept. 18, 6-9 p.m. 2014

Get the story behind the photos in an exhibit chronicling the incubation period of Washington, D.C.'s hardcore music scene, which hatched such bands as Bad Brains and Minor Threat, when photographer Lucian Perkins visits for an artist's talk and reception. Perkins, a Pulitzer Prize-winner with The Washington Post, will be joined by music writer Alec MacKaye, who was part of the D.C. scene as a member of Untouchables and other bands—not to mention as the younger brother of Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat and, later, Fugazi. Then, on Thursday evening, curators Jayme McLellan and Lely Constantinople speak about their roles in bringing Perkins' photos to the public. —Curt Fields
