TINY ENGINE THEATRE COMPANY: RECALL

COMMON GROUND THEATRE, DURHAM

THURSDAY, MARCH 26–SATURDAY, APRIL 4

"They're all just kids. Until they aren't." It's a future like the one in Philip K. Dick's Minority Report, and science can spot sociopathic kids before they stage atrocities like Sandy Hook or Columbine. Once tagged, the government simply recalls them, like a poorly manufactured car. What happens after that is a bit of a mystery. The work is done by people called recountants, and one is having a hard time with two teenagers, now on watch: Quinn, a high-school loner, and Lucy, the 13-year-old budding nihilist with a crush on him. Quinn's on The List; Lucy's a bit harder to call. Lately, she's been showing up in too many rooms where blood's been spilled, and then sliding off the radar with her nomadic singer mom, Justine. Now all three are in or near a government-watched safe house. But who is really the bad seed here? Paul Sapp directs Kirsten Ehlert, Natalie Izlar, Gerald Jones, Amanda Scherle and Lazarus Simmons in Tiny Engine Theatre Company's production of this tense psychological thriller. 8 p.m. Thurs.–Sat. and April 1; 2 p.m. March 29, $12–$16, 4815B Hillsborough Rd., Durham, 919-578-1654, www.tinyenginetheatre.com.Byron Woods
