Raw Nerve, Divine Right, Double Negative, Pure Scum, Infeccion

When: Mon., April 9, 8:30 p.m. 2012

This gig falls near the end of Raw Nerve's farewell tour. The Chicago band leaves behind a catalog of recordings that is modest in scope—a few EPs, a demo, an LP—but amazing in impact. Brooding like Rollins-era Black Flag, snarling like Poison Idea and streaked with noisy gristle, Raw Nerve manages to sound totally unhinged, even as their songs never stray into aimless assaults. In the middle of the bill are Windy City ragers Divine Right and Double Negative, whose sinewy hardcore seems to be getting more straightforward and more confrontational all at once, which means they're as taut and tense as ever. Pure Scum and Infección open. —Bryan C. Reed
