That swashbuckling feline outlaw (voiced by the ever-charismatic Antonio Banderas) from the Shrek
movies has a movie of his own, in this entertaining but weird mashup of fairy-tale lore and spaghetti western. It may not achieve the same level of sophisticated, introspective storytelling that Kung Fu Panda 2
wowed audiences with earlier this year, but it doesn't rely on annoying pop references or scenes of shameless schmaltz. It does keep its narrative and visuals fresh and intriguing, even when you find yourself thinking, "Wait a minute, I'm being entertained by a movie about a damn talking, sword-fighting cat!"
