Parsons Dance

When: Fri., Oct. 12, 8 p.m. 2012

It is impossible not to have a good time at a Parsons Dance concert. The dancers are young and foxy and exuberant, and the dances, by David Parsons, make sense even while the dancers are doing things not possible for most humans. This availability to understanding makes the Parsons company a great starting place for those who think they may be interested in modern dance but are afraid to plunge in. Parsons himself danced with the Paul Taylor Company, so he knows all about leap and loft and tight ensemble work. Parsons is also a prolific choreographer, and the program will include two new works, along with the fine 2003 Swing Shift and other older works. And, no worries, it will include the perennial pleaser, Caught, from 1982: With the help of Robert Fripp music and a strobe light, two male dancers do kinetic magic that's guaranteed to make you smile. —Kate Dobbs Ariail
