As I walked by the Indy box outside my building, I was arrested by Lissa Gotwals' cover photograph ("What's so scary about Durham?" May 24). It's the strongest piece of photojournalism I've seen in a long time. To the critics who were dismayed by it: The photo's power lies in the fact that it mocks your worldview while exposing Durham's bad rap for what it is--mostly hot air. You missed the point entirely; it's the perfect allegory for Durham. You show us your own fears and prejudices by lashing out at your interpretation of reality. Otherwise, it's just two kids having fun picking mulberries. Way to go, Lissa!
