From 1963 to 1975, the face most commonly associated with Ken Kesey's iconoclastic novel was Kirk Douglas, not Jack Nicholson. Douglas starred in the Broadway premiere as "Mac" McMurphy, the incorrigible anti-authoritarian who brings a little empowerment—and chaos—to the unnamed Oregon psychiatric institute where Nurse Ratched holds sway. Actor Mike Raab (who cut a trim figure as Bertha in Theatre Raleigh's Boeing! Boeing!) gets the chance to place his mark on McMurphy and Renee Wimberley assays his nemesis Ratched in this Justice Theater Project production. Jeremy Fiebig directs. —Byron Woods

Price: $12-20
