Once | Durham Performing Arts Center | Stage | Indy Week

When: Jan. 21-26 2014

Adapted from the Oscar-winning film about a down-on-his-luck Irish busker who finds hope and human connection with a charming Czech immigrant, the Once stage musical features the same heart-swelling songs of love and loss that have haunted film audiences. A minimalist staging mirrors the simple spirit of the story and, appropriately for a musical about making music, the actors play their own instruments. This is no razzle-dazzle Broadway production with showy dance numbers; it's poignant and honest. You can expect DPAC to feel far more intimate than usual. —Emma D. Miller
