OFF THE RADAR: ERIC PICKERSGILL

FRIDAY, JAN. 16, DURHAM

BUILDING 3 AT GOLDEN BELT—Photography has been in a state of change even as it inherited responsibility from literature as the primary medium of our personal and collective memory. The latest one-night pop-up show in Golden Belt's Off the Radar series features photographer Eric Pickersgill's ongoing contemplation of his grandfather's autobiographical 8mm films, and the role the photographic medium has played in his family's history. Pickersgill's large-scale installation Endec, including more than 100 images as well as audio from the original films, will only be up for three hours. But he also has his thesis exhibit at UNC-Chapel Hill's Allcott Gallery Feb. 26. 6–9 p.m., free, 807 E. Main St., Durham, 919-967-7700, www.goldenbeltarts.com. —Chris Vitiello
