New York Polyphony: Sing Thee Nowell

When: Fri., Dec. 12, 8 p.m. 2014

The sonic polyphony one associates with New York could be a combination of car horns, ticket hawkers and emergency sirens. But the quartet New York Polyphony provides a more palatable overlap of timbres: a cappella vocal works spanning from the medieval to the contemporary. “Sing Thee Nowell,” their grab bag of a Christmas program, includes classic English carols alongside lesser-known masterworks by Victoria and Clemens non Papa. Listen for new compositions by Andrew Smith and Geoffrey Williams, the latter of whom sings with the ensemble. —Will Robin

Price: $10-$38
