Will those high-rise condos in downtown Raleigh offer a view of the beach by 2050? Find out at the North Carolina Global Warming Conference, June 8-9, at the UNC Warwick Center in Wilmington.
Scheduled speakers include UNC-Wilmington marine biologist Larry Cahoon and Bert Drake of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, who has extensively researched the effects of increased carbon dioxide on plants. In addition to a scientists' roundtable, there will be workshops and panels on coastal threats, renewable energy, green building and transportation, plus poverty, social change and global warming.
The conference is being hosted by the Cape Fear Global Warming Committee, UNC-Wilmington and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Registration is required. Go online at globalwarmingnc.com or call 910-962-3195.
