Natural Selections: The Wake County Science & Brewers Expo | NC Museum of Natural Sciences | Arts | Indy Week

Natural Selections: The Wake County Science & Brewers Expo

When: Thu., Aug. 21, 6-9 p.m. 2014

Sure, making beer sounds fun, but there's a catch—you actually have to know stuff to do it properly. There's an art to it, but there's also a large dose of science involved. Fortunately, science is pretty damn fun too, especially the way they do it at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Beer and science unite at this event, where you can discover the tastes of rare delicacies such as bumblebee beer (oh, the buzzed jokes that could engender!). More than a dozen local breweries are taking part, including Crank Arm, Fortnight, Sub Noir, Draft Line and Trophy, so you're guaranteed to taste something more appealing than "oyster beer" sounds. Along with sampling brews, join discussions on fermentation, flavoring and the work of local environmental groups. Must be 21 or older. —Curt Fields

Price: $20-$25
