At the beginning of Muppets Most Wanted, Kermit, Fozzie, Miss Piggy and the gang set expectations low with a song-and-dance number called "We're Doing a Sequel." The song explains that even though sequels usually aren't very good, Disney needed something to put out while Tom Hanks works on Toy Story 4. As always, Jim Henson's iconic creations are charming in a self-deprecating, self-reflexive fashion. Thankfully, their latest movie is just as clever and amusing. The setup of Kermit being framed while an evil lookalike conducts a series of heists may be a trifle flimsy, especially considering the Muppets went down a similar road with The Great Muppet Caper in 1981. But this is a Muppet movie, and it's all about how much ridiculous, fourth wall-breaking fun they can cram on the screen.
