This Friday, May 10, as part of their Retrofantasma Film Series, Durham's Carolina Theatre will screen two classic Italian horror films by writer/director Dario Argento. The 1975 Deep Red (pictured) tells the story of a jazz pianist Marc Daly, played by David Hemmings, who becomes involved in a brutal string of murders. With the help of reporter Daria Nicolodi, Daly attempts to solve the murders, only to become a suspect, and then a target. Deep Red stands out among Argento's films, the film helped to launch the director's international career and even caught the attention of Alfred Hitchcock. Deep Red will be followed by Argento's 1986 film, Demons. See "Special Showings" for details.
