Motorbilly, Hearts and Daggers, Lone Wolves

When: Thu., Jan. 15, 9 p.m. 2015

The sinking price of gas brings out Motorbilly, spreading their good-time gospel of whiskey and reverb. Cut from the same high-spirited cloth as Reverend Horton Heat and the Supersuckers, Motorbilly’s muffler-less roar wakes the neighbors and soundtracks mayhem with jams like “Bodies in the Trunk” and “In the Gutter Again.” They’re joined by Raleigh’s Hearts and Daggers, fresh off the fall release of their third album, A Coronation or a Hanging. Hewing closer to the ambling country-punk of Langhorne Slim, their rebel spirit isn’t quite as rowdy as that of Motorbilly. Frontman Kevin Wolfe’s easy tenor radiates more warmth, though, and his melodic instincts are surer. —Chris Parker

Price: $5-$7
