Movies About Elections: The Candidate
witherspoon campus cinema, n.c. state campus—With presidential debates dominating screens small and large, NCSU's election-themed fall film series packs a punch of timeliness for the month of October. The series kicks off this evening with a screening of Michael Ritchie's 1972 comedy The Candidate, a chronicle of the new American political process that earned an Oscar for its cynical screenplay; Robert Redford plays the young, handsome liberal. Check out other voter-friendly flicks—Bob Roberts, Election and Street Fight—on Mondays at 7 p.m. in the Witherspoon Campus Cinema for free.

And, for those of you with DISH satellite service, check out the Documentary Channel on channel 197 for How Ohio Pulled it Off, an account of the purported 2004 Election Day shenanigans in the Buckeye State. —Kathy Justice
