Million Dollar Quartet

When: Dec. 4-9 2012

The latest of the Broadway "jukebox" musicals to come through the area actually has a fascinating historical precedent—it's based on a real-life 1956 incident in which Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins had an impromptu jam session. This interpretation includes a few narrative tricks that allow for the players to perform some well-known songs written long after 1956, but the show has received widespread acclaim for its high energy and dead-on recreations—so dead-on, in fact, that you can see the real Jerry Lee Lewis jamming with the cast if you go on YouTube. Tuesday's opening show is at 7:30 p.m.; performances continue through Dec. 9. —Zack Smith

Price: $40-$70
