Margin Call

When: Fri., June 15, 9 p.m. 2012

Hey, investment bankers need love too, or maybe just a little understanding. As part of the N.C. Museum of Art's summer movie series on the lawn, director J. C. Chandor's claustrophobic Wall Street drama Margin Call (2011) puts a human face on the clueless avarice of the usurers. A taut cast including Stanley Tucci, Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons delivers, by degrees, a firm's realization that its fraudulent bond manipulations are about to crash the market and spark a widespread financial crisis. Bring a picnic, blankets and lawn chairs. And return on Saturday night for Brad Pitt's quirky portrayal of sabermetric baseball visionary Billy Beane in Moneyball. Tickets to the 9 p.m. screening are $4.—Chris Vitiello
