Man Man, Raleigh Moncrief (Showroom)

When: Sun., June 17, 8 p.m. 2012

Man Man's latest, 2011's Life Fantastic, might be the group's most grounded album to date, but that doesn't mean they're setting down any roots. The record's still full of the off-kilter instrumentation and odd sonic collisions that typify the group's meanderings. Even if their genre-flaunting "pop" music opted for the road more traveled, it'd be hard for any group featuring the gravely holler possessed by Honus Honus to truly normalize. And given the success they've achieved by following their peculiar muses, it'd probably be best for Man Man to just keep on keepin' on. Raleigh Moncrief opens the 8 p.m. show; tickets are $12 in advance, $14 day of show. —David Raposa

Price: $12-14
