Magnitude of the Slope

When: July 5-7 and July 12-14 2013

In this timely two-person play about greed, loyalty and moral complications, stock trader JP meets his longtime mistress at a hotel the same night that he's set to turn his Ponzi-scheming father-in-law over to the FBI. It sounds both complicated and reminiscent of Bernie Madoff, but playwright Paul Sapp delves into the relationships and human issues at play. Needless to say, JP is not so morally inculpable himself. But then, who is? Magnitude of the Slope was first produced in New York by indie-theater troupe Collective Hole Productions. Now Sapp, who moved from Jersey City to Durham a few years back, directs his own work. The production opened last week and closes on Sunday. —Emma D. Miller

Price: $10-15
