Lucky Plush Productions: Rooming House

When: Fri., Sept. 15, 8 p.m. 2017

A storm comes, a repressive regime or a beloved child goes one step too far, or a lover's life is threatened. Suddenly, you have to act. But actions have consequences, and you can't always count the cost ahead of time. That's the dilemma a group of friends faces when the myth of Eurydice and several modern-day analogs are transposed onto a game of Clue in Lucky Plush's newest dance theater work. Artistic director Julia Rhoades says Rooming House examines how myths and mythology are a container for the things we hold onto, and how stories form, frame, and change our beliefs of what's real. What happens when that secret passageway leads to the Underworld instead of the Lounge or the Conservatory? And what happens when you try to return? Answers await in this free staging of the work in progress before its Chicago premiere in October. —Byron Woods
