Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakam

When: Fri., Aug. 10, 7 p.m. 2018

This gig is part of a string of shows dubbed the LSD Tour, but the combination of Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, and Dwight Yoakam has nothing to do with chemical alterations of the psyche. Quite the opposite, this bill of alt-country's three most trailblazing titans is all about unadorned, clear-eyed perspectives on what wasn't even called Americana yet when they started out. Between Yoakam's Buck Owens-worshipping, Bakersfield-inflected approach; Earle's gritty, outlaw-indebted rock-country amalgam; and Williams's poetic, folk-informed singer-songwriter approach, all three of the headliners have trod very different paths from each other over the last few decades. Still, they've got some deep American roots in common and a fealty to the power of twang that makes them sonic siblings of the soul. If previous performances from this tour are any indication, there's a good chance you'll hear these three Americana auteurs join together on a country classic or two before all is said and done. —Jim Allen
